These poker chips all feature the lucky number “5” which was very important to collector who assembled this set, they were sourced in Chicago.
The chips are clearly very old and all show signs of use. The Mother of Pearl has been cut by hand as they are not all perfectly symmetrical which is entirely in keeping with chips that were made over 100 years ago. They are definitely handmade, and it's extremely unlikely that they could be anything other than early 20th century or before.
We had them framed behind museum glass to protect them from sunlight, using a master framer in Bury St.Edmunds. He cut out the blue back ground by hand as every chip is a different size - quite a job in itself just to frame them!
These are very rare and highly collectable, we have had a lot of experience with vintage poker and roulette tables and accessories. Our Youtube video on a rigged Roulette table that was found and restored has over 1.6M views https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOOc4sVA_vc and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TavAtAr9gIU
