Brought to you by the renowned pinball manufacturer Stern Inc, this spine tingling table celebrates the iconic 1960’s TV sitcom, ‘The Munsters’. Players will be transported back to 1313 Mockingbird Lane, where they’ll join the entire Munsters family on this haunted pinball adventure.
The Munsters was an American sitcom depicting the home life of a family of benign monsters starring Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster and Yvonne de Carlo as his vampire wife. The grandpa character, played by Al Lewis, was an over-the-hill vampire who relished talking about the "good old days" whilst Beverly Owen played their teenage niece Marilyn Munster, whose all-American beauty made her the family outcast. The series was a satire of both traditional monster movies and the wholesome family fare of the era and it ran concurrently with the similarly macabre themed ‘The Addams Family’, which itself spawned one of the most highly acclaimed pinball tables of all time.
As with many Stern offerings there are three versions of the table - Pro, Premium and Limited Edition. They all feature a fabulous high definition LCD screen and stunning cabinet artwork, which does an uncanny job of bringing the undead back to life.
In addition, they all include a custom sculpted Herman bash toy with magnetised ball catch and a pop-up Spot bash toy hidden under the left ramp. A custom sculpted Drag-U-La toy car features near the left shooter lane kicker and a metal turn-around, flip-up ramp adds to the fun.
Join Herman, Raven, Lily, Spot and Grandpa, and work your way towards Munster Madness in this frightfully funny and action-packed world!
One of the giants of the pinball industry, Stern can trace its lineage back to the 1930’s when these games first became popular in bars and restaurants. Sam Stern began as an operator and then made an audacious bid for the Williams Manufacturing Company in 1947, reasoning that if he could successfully operate the machines he could probably manage a manufacturing business too.
The bid was accepted and throughout the 50’s and 60’s he worked hard alongside the original owner Harry Williams to turn the company into a major player, eventually bringing in his son Gary who shared his passion for pinball. During the 1980’s and 1990’s the industry saw considerable upheaval, with coin operated video games coming to the fore and several of the original pinball manufacturers being acquired by the new players. Gary Stern founded a new company, Data East Pinball, in 1986 following his father’s death and then and sold it to Sega in 1994. In 1999 he bought the business back and it has continued to go from strength to strength.
These days the company continues to dominate the scene, having released many popular games in the last decade such as Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, Shrek, Batman and Spiderman.
